Hearing by movements, Seeing by sound.
Sound and movements exist only in time.
What is the true essence of dance and music?
<MUAK> is a piece inspired by the music with the same name by the composer Isang Yun. According to Isang Yun, in Western music the tunes are made up by the composer. But in Asian music the tune already exist and it is the composer’s role to simply find the tune. The dance and music are all pace of breath.
<MUAK> breaks down the boundaries present in dance and music by using physical force and filling the stage with movement as sound. The audience respond to these sounds, not as a spectator but as a listener, and the audience individually create their own narrative and dismantle the boundaries between the past and future, east and west, and music and dance.
However, <MUAK> begins from the point that the true essence of dance and music, no matter its form, will never change.
